Objective 1: 10% usage comes from HogQL-modeled batch exports

Motivation

  • Understand how far can we get with HogQL as an interface for batch exports.
  • Take ownership of parts of PostHog that could be better served by batch exports.

What we’ll ship

  • Complete support for HogQL in scheduled and on demand batch exports.
  • Skill/MCP improvements to better direct agents to use HogQL batch exports.

Objective 2: Understand and optimize our product's growth

Motivation

  • Without knowing what's costing us:
    • We can't optimize effectively.
    • We can't know how to improve our pricing strategy.

What we’ll ship

  • Understand which areas of batch exports cost us the most.
    • Ideally: Cost breakdown per team, batch export, and even individual runs.
  • Act on the findings to deliver cost savings.

Objective 3: Scaling batch exports to many more customers

Motivation

  • Increase confidence that our pipeline can handle 10x our current volume.

What we'll ship

  • Experiment and apply new architectures.
  • Test different file formats and/or compression algorithms.
